Senior Land Surveyor – Office Position

Position Description

The surveying department of Crawford and Associates Engineering and Land Surveying is extremely busy and is primarily focused on boundary, topographic, subdivision and construction surveying. We have an immediate need for a senior land surveyor to work with a Licensed Surveyor in the preparation of surveys and to meet project objectives. This position would be primarily an office position with very minimal fieldwork required.

Responsibilities would include:

  • Analysis of and processing of data produced by field crews towards the goal of producing accurate and correct survey maps. The ideal candidate will possess the ingenuity to work out complex surveying problems and make decisions using the rules of construction for land surveys.

  • Overseeing the technical quality of office work done by others. (The party chiefs/field crew managers will typically work up some of the simpler tasks in the office but the senior land surveyor would work with them to insure accuracy of their work).

  • Training of new staff and mentorship.

  • Preparation of full and complete subdivision applications.

  • Attendance at planning board meetings.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years working in the surveying field including performing both field and office work.

  • Very knowledgeable in surveying skills, including map drafting and deed research.

  • A very strict attention to minor detail

  • Excellent problem solving skills.

  • The patience to work with field and office staff.

  • The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

  • Working knowledge of state of the art surveying equipment

The compensation includes pay in the range of $24/hr to $39/hr and excellent benefits including 401K with company match, high quality fully-paid health insurance, paid vacation and PTO (paid time off), tuition reimbursement, paid holidays, potential for bonuses, life insurance and an excellent working environment in a modern office setting.

Civil/Structural Engineer

Position Summary

C&A is looking for a civil/structural building design engineer eager for an opportunity to help build a growing structural department in a well-established firm. The right individual will have 3-5 years of technical experience along with experience and/or an interest in client communications, project management, and staff oversight. The chosen candidate will work directly with Civil/Structural Group Leader and others in expanding the group.

Work will involve projects that range from high end residential homes, commercial, institutional, and industrial building design, existing building assessment with renovation design, historic building assessment and foundation design, plus others. Work may also include assignments that include civil/site design tasks. C&A is always interested in expanding its market focus based on the interests of its staff.

Position Qualifications

  • 3-5 Years of experience with BS or Master’s Degree in Civil/Structural Engineering

  • Strong knowledge of or interest in Building Design / Construction: Steel, Wood and Concrete Design Standards

  • EIT certificate with interest in pursuing licensure

  • Proficiency in AutoCAD and Visual Analysis

  • Carpentry and/or construction experience a plus

  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills

  • Energetic motivated individuals

C&A is Looking for Survey Technicians

Position Summary

Crawford & Associates Engineering & Land Surveying, PC, a multi-disciplined engineering and land surveying firm that serves public and private clients throughout the Hudson Valley and Capital Region, is looking for Land Surveyor Technicians to join the growing survey team in our Hudson, Columbia County office. Crawford & Associates’ Land Surveying Division specializes in boundary and topographic surveys, subdivisions, ALTA surveys, drone surveying, aerial ground control and construction layout.

The Survey Technician contributes to the completion of all facets of survey work performing a variety of field and office tasks working under the direction of a licensed land surveyor.

Responsibilities include deed research and analysis, processing of raw data, survey calculations and CAD drafting, and file management in the office. In the field the survey technician assists with all aspects of fieldwork including reading and preparation of plans, collecting and recording field data utilizing a combination of manual and robotic totals stations, GPS receivers and data collectors.

Though not necessary for someone with a surveying degree, the ideal candidate will have either through work related experience or classroom instruction, familiarity with traditional surveying methods, boundary analysis and/or CAD drafting. An Associates’ or Bachelor’s degree in survey technology is preferred.

Compensation Package Crawford & Associates offers a generous compensation package that includes PTO and vacation time, 401K with company match, fully-paid healthcare, overtime pay and salary in the range of $22 to $30 per hour.
