Crawford & Associates Announce Sale of Ownership

Crawford & Associates Engineering and Land Surveying, a professional corporation based in Hudson, announced this week the sale of majority ownership from David Crawford to Jennifer Crawford. Crawford & Associates (C&A) has more than 30 years of experience as a full-service engineering and land surveying firm, providing planning, civil, environmental, mechanical, geotechnical, structural and electrical engineering and land surveying services to private and municipal clients.

C&A prides itself on carrying the skill and experience of a large firm while simultaneously offering the focused service, quick responsiveness and cost effectiveness of a small firm. Jen is excited to lead the firm through the clean energy transition, and into new markets as society’s engineering needs evolve. C&A will continue to offer consulting engineering services for both public and private clients in civil, structural, environmental, geotechnical, mechanical, and electrical planning and design. The firm also maintains a full-service survey department offering land surveying as well as construction, topography, utility surveying, drone photography/videography, and wetland mapping.

Started in 1992 by David J. Crawford, professional engineer (P.E.), the firm has a grown to a staff of 29 including 5 professional engineers and 2 licensed surveyors. In addition to Jennifer S. Crawford P.E., as majority shareholder, the firm is owned by Daniel J. Russell, professional land surveyor (PLS), Donna M. Verna P.E. and Andrew Aubin P.E. as shareholders. David Crawford will continue with the firm as a Client Relations Specialist.

Jen Crawford is a licensed engineer with more than 13 years of experience in the energy industry. She graduated from Tufts University with Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and holds a Master of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Colorado at Boulder. Jen comes from a research and development background in the solar power industry where she helped develop optical assessment methods, energy and ray trace models, manufacturing quality assurance and quality control systems, and instrumentation. Jen also sat on an international committee for the development of standards for concentrated solar reflectance measurements. She has been instrumental to the establishment of C&A’s energy systems design group which specializes in solar and battery energy storage design in the 5-100 megawatt (MW) scale throughout the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest. Current projects include what will be the two largest landfill solar installations in the nation, at 50MW each in Texas and Ohio. As a consulting engineer, Jen has over 9 years’ experience in the areas of electrical, mechanical, and civil engineering design and construction support, site planning, regulatory processes. She has developed special expertise in the area of flood plain regulations and design, local waterfront revitalization planning, and building code review. Jen also has 5 years’ experience in the volunteer fire service; she serves as a Class A interior firefighter and brings valuable perspective to firm’s fire safety designs.
